The Ottawa Art League is a non-profit organization established in 1967 by a group of artists from the Illinois Valley Area. The Ottawa Art League has a mission to cultivate and promote a greater interest in art and also encourages the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience among both professional and amateur artists.
We conduct meetings for the presentation as well as the discussion of knowledge and techniques for the improvement of amateur art. OAL arranges local competitions for amateur and youth artists in the community offering awards for the purpose of encouraging contributions to art.
The OAL draws members from across LaSalle, Livingston, Putnam, Bureau, DeKalb, Lee, Grundy and Kendall counties. Active members include a wide variety of 2D and 3D Fine Artists. Examples include: Oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, charcoal, pen & ink, pastels, printmaking, photography, wood-carving, ceramics, sculpture, fiber-art, stained glass, blown glass, fused glass, metals and jewelry.
The Ottawa Art League meets the first Wednesday of each month in in the lower level of Jeremiah Joe's Coffee shop in the 807 building on LaSalle Street. We do not host an organized meeting in June or December.
